I adore Utena, she is one of my all time favorite anime characters. So when I started planning my big costume for Anime Boston I decided to go for her Rose Bride Gown. The whole costume was based on the slim silhouette that Utena characters have. So I decided to make all my patterns around a corset that went under the whole costume. The corset took my waist in about 2 1/2 inches, and it really gave me that slim appearance.
The dress itself is made from a synthetic satin with silk ribbon and silk organza. The wig was hand dyed with sharpie dye to get a 'natural' pink hue.
